For many years, Mike Smith ran a Big Band called 'Blue Velvet' playing Swing and Big Band jazz, with many UK performances and broadcasts on BBC radio.

'Blue Velvet' also toured Europe and performed on national television in Germany, Belgium and Holland.

Following this success, Mike decided to present a much larger orchestra capable of a wide range of music and styles to appeal to all age groups.
